First fire of the autumn
As the rain is pouring down outside and we’re all tired (NOT hung over!) after a great night, what better than to crash out in front of our first fire of the autumn?

La Vie en Foussais is a record of the trials and tribulations of us, the Barley family, as we make a new life for ourselves here in the Vendée region of western France.
Please take the time to look around and feel free to comment on anything you see here. Its always good to hear from you.

The first hint of winter and what did we do today? Removed our boiler.
Hopefully the new wood burner and water heating system will be in place in a few weeks and before it gets really cold.
In the meantime, it’s a bit like camping here: we’ve got a fire in one room and we can shower in the gite, though that is unheated.

Oops Jon, that sounds entertaining! Luckily it seems to have really warmed up since Sunday and we have not needed heating or fires since then. Long may it continue!
